North High School has a strong tradition of excellence in marching band over the past twenty years. The “North High Marching Stars” have earned awards and division “1” ratings at numerous events in the tri-state area.
In addition to contests, the band performs at Starfest, several home football games, an indoor marching concert, and an assembly for the student body.Band camp is the beginning of serious preparation for the marching season. Before school begins, one week of intensive rehearsals are scheduled to learn the drill for the season. Band camp is conducted during the day on the North High marching field. Dates for band camp will be available well in advance of the beginning to accommodate family and work schedules.This ensemble rehearses five times a week during the football/competition season. Rehearsal begins on the North High marching field at 6:40 AM and concludes at the end of first period. All students are expected to be on time. Students are expected to be present even if it is raining or snowing out. If school is scheduled, the band will practice. If the weather is poor practice will be conducted in the band room.Football performances happen at Elwood Olsen stadium, both before the game and during halftime. Competitions are scheduled for Saturdays throughout the fall. See the band calendar for specific dates and times.
